Real triplets
A set of triplets, on whose the story is based were males in real life from 1980s with. They went by the names of David Kellman, Bobby Shafran, and Eddy Galland who lived totally different lives unaware of another’s existence.
How did they meet?
What happened in 1980 is that Robert Shafran, a 19-year-old boy, entered a college in New York and started being greeted by other students, who confused him with someone else.
He then discovers that another student, Eddy Galland, is in the same college: the two meet and find out that they are twins.
The case attracted media attention, and at some point, the news reached David Kellman, who found out the extreme resemblance between those twins and himself and shared the same birthday.
This way, Robert, Eddy, and David discover that they are triplets who were adopted by different families through an adoption agency, who kept secret the existence of the other brothers.
Experiment
Despite being raised in completely different families, the triplets shared similar characters and preferences.
They smoked the same brand of cigarettes.
They were all fond of wrestling.
They were sentimentally attracted by the same kind of women.
They all suffered from clear signs of abandonment issues and a consequential form of depression.
Purpose behind experiment
The truth behind the experiment which apparently the adoption agency carried was supposed to collect meaningful data about the development of three genetically identical individuals in different social contexts without the consent of any of the children involved.
It was revealed that those triplets weren’t the only ones: over the years, many twins and triplets managed by that adoption agency were part of the experiment.
The experiment was conducted by child psychiatrist and psychoanalyst Peter B. Neubauer, and the study will remain sealed at the Yale University Library until October 25, 2065. “Triptych” adds a dozen twists and turns to the true event, which at times was a little too much to handle.
Where are the triplets now?
Back in the 80s, after knowing eacothers’ existence, the triplets ended up living together and started running their own restaurant.
One of the triplets Eddy Galland died by suicide in 1995. In a documented movie, it was revealed that for a number of years, David and Bobby had not been very close.
On digging multiple US media reports, True Scoop News found that David Kellman now lives in New Jersey and he works in life insurance, and specializes in annuities and healthcare.
Bobby Shafran now he lives in Gravesend, Brooklyn and he works as a lawyer. After a long, tense relationship, David and Bobby get on really well now and go golfing together.
