Netflix's Dahmer: How did America’s worst serial killer die?

Netflix has just released another spine-chilling documentary titled ‘DAHMER – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story’, a series about America’s one of the most horrific serial killers ‘Jeffrey Dahmer’.

In 1996, Jeffrey Dahmer was convicted of multiple horrendous acts and was sentenced to 15 consecutive life sentences but only lived to serve three years. Those who have watched the series still wonder how did he die?

Plot

Netflix documentary series Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story starring Evan Peters as Dahmer. His story is not something people want to dwell on as he murdered 17 innocent people in unspeakable ways often involving sexual assault, necrophilia, dismemberment, and cannibalism.

Jeffrey Lionel Dahmer, known as the Milwaukee Cannibal was born in 1960. He became a notorious American serial killer who murdered 17 people from 1978-1991.

Who were Dahmer’s victims?

Dahmer’s victims were all male, ranging in age from 14 to 32, and all the murders were sexually motivated, many of them people of color and some underage.

He had issues surrounding dominance and abandonment, and he was continually on the search for a totally compliant sex slave, causing him to drug and experiment on his victims with a total disregard for their humanity and autonomy.

How was Dahmer convicted?

Dahmer had been arrested numerous times on different occasions over his suspicious activities but was never arrested until one of his victims escaped in 1991.

On that day, police found body parts and severed heads in Dahmer’s apartment, his fridge, freezer, filing cabinet, and kettle.

15 consecutive life sentences

In 1992, Dahmer was jailed for life. At the time of conviction, Dahmer was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder, schizotypal personality disorder, and psychotic disorder, despite he was found to be legally sane at his trial.

He was given 15 consecutive life sentences and told he would never be eligible for parole. Dahmer was later sentenced to a 16th term of life imprisonment for an additional homicide committed in Ohio in 1978.

How did Dahmer die?

In November 1994, when Dahmer was 34 years old, he was beaten to death by a fellow inmate named Christopher Scarver.

Scarver, who was himself serving a 25-year-sentence for an armed robbery-turned-murder, arrived at the prison at around the same time as Dahmer in 1992.

Scarver’s stance on killing Dahmer

More than 20 years after the incident, Scarver spoke out for the first time about why he killed Dahmer and said that he fatally struck Dahmer twice over the head with a metal bar after growing unnerved by the killer.

Scarver confessed and claiming that “God had told him to do it”. He was given two further life sentences.
