Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder and former prime minister Imran Khan is in jail and facing 100 cases but his recent moves show that he has not learned from the experience of confrontation.
The appointment of Omar Ayub Khan as PTI’s candidate for prime minister slot and Mian Aslam and Ali Amin Gandapur for the posts of Punjab and KP chief minister slots has given an impression that Khan wants to continue confrontation with the state institutions.
Ayub, Mian Aslam and Gandapur are nominated in the May 9 riots cases, the event that triggered attacks on the military installations in Punjab. Though Khan is being advised to hold talks with other political parties as the matters are always settled through negotiations, his actions show that he is not interested in it.
Sources have claimed that the government has decided to arrest the people named in the May 9 riots. There would be another cry from the PTI if the aforesaid leaders were arrested because they are absconders in the May 9 cases.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and its founder need to change his attitude to end the political polarization and take the country forward from the crunch situation. The current situation of the country does not allow to continue confrontation, because it will further dent the country and the loss will be irreparable.
