The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) is set to roll out updated security features in the B Form (Registration Certificate) for children aged over 10.
These enhancements include adding photographs and fingerprint impressions of applicants, a step aimed at strengthening data protection and combating identity-related crimes.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi had previously directed NADRA to revise the B Form format. Speaking about the initiative, Naqvi said that the updated features would help safeguard children’s personal information and play a critical role in preventing crimes such as fake identity card issuance, illegal passport procurement, and human trafficking.
A spokesperson from the Ministry of Interior explained that NADRA centers will now require children aged 10 and above to provide thumb impressions and photographs when applying for the updated B Form. Parents or legal guardians must accompany the child to the NADRA center with the child’s original birth certificate.
Moreover, children between the ages of 10 and 18 will need to submit the updated B Form when applying for a new passport. The older version of the B Form, which lacks fingerprint and photograph details, will no longer be accepted for this age group.
