Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) leader and Federal Minister Mustafa Kamal has once again targeted party chairman Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, claiming that Siddiqui stopped Waseem Akhtar from becoming the governor of Sindh.
Speaking about the issue, Kamal said Waseem Akhtar’s absence from party activities may create the impression that he has disagreements with them, but that was not the case.
He said that before joining MQM-P, he and Akhtar had political differences, which they openly expressed during television talk shows and public gatherings. However, after becoming part of the same party, he said, he held no personal resentment against anyone.
The federal minister claimed that Siddiqui himself had told him that when Waseem Akhtar wanted to become Sindh governor, he asked the then MQM-P convener to prepare a letter and accompany him to meet the prime minister.
Kamal said Siddiqui arranged the meeting, presented the letter to the prime minister and said that MQM-P had nominated Waseem Akhtar for the position of Sindh governor.
Kamal further alleged that after the meeting ended, Siddiqui stepped aside while bidding farewell to the prime minister and whispered that the request mentioned in the letter should not be acted upon.
Moreover, Kamal said MQM-P had decided to completely change the country’s existing governance model and ensure that constitutional powers and resources reached citizens’ doorsteps.
