Kishwar Merchant, a renowned name in Indian television, has been captivating audiences for decades with her stellar performances in numerous serials.
Over the years, she has earned immense love and admiration from her fans. However, her personal life has also been a topic of much attention, particularly her marriage to actor Suyesh Rai, who is 8 years younger than her.
Their relationship sparked debates due to the significant age difference, and the couple faced considerable trolling on social media.
According to Indian Media (News 18), recently, Kishwar Merchant appeared on a show hosted by Debina Bonnerjee, where she opened up about her personal life and her relationship with Suyesh. She revealed that initially, Suyesh’s mother was opposed to their marriage. However, over time, Suyesh’s family accepted Kishwar, and they have since built a strong bond.
Kishwar, a Muslim by religion, married Hindu actor Suyesh Rai in 2016. The couple first met on the sets of a television serial, and what began as a professional relationship quickly blossomed into love.
Despite the challenges of an age difference, their bond remained strong, and religion was never an obstacle. Kishwar mentioned that Suyesh’s sister had also married a Muslim man, making their religious differences less significant.
Having worked in popular shows such as Kashmakash Zindagi Ki and Mile Jab Hum Tum, Kishwar shared that she has now become a mother at the age of 40. Reflecting on her own experience, she said that she now understands her mother-in-law’s perspective better.
She admitted that if her son were to tell her one day that he wanted to marry someone 8 years older than him, she would likely be taken aback.
The couple’s son, born into a Hindu-Muslim household, embraces both religions. Just like his mother, he follows Islam, and like his father, he wears Rudraksha beads. Kishwar even shared a photo of her son wearing a prayer cap and Rudraksha beads while performing namaz.
