MULTAN: The Multan administration has arrested various Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) leaders and workers belonging to different political parties including Kasim Gillani, the son of former premier Yousaf Raza Gillani after they stormed into Qila Kohna Qasim Bagh stadium by removing barriers.
In view of growing COVID-19 concerns, the district administration in Multan has refused to allow the PDM rally. The administration also made arrests and registered cases to prevent the PDM rally. It also sealed all routes going to the venue with containers and released water inside the stadium as well.
According to sources, Multan police and administration blocked the central routes of the Qila Kohna Qasim Bagh stadium and removed the tents, chairs and other equipment from the venue of the PDM rally. “At this time, no PDM leaders or workers are present at the rally’s venue, sources added.
The Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) in Multan, PPP and PML-N workers overcame containers and obstacles and stormed into Qila Qasim Bagh.
According to details, the supporters led by sons of former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani Ali Haider Gilani and Musa Gilani forcefully entered the venue by breaking the locks of three of the six stadium gates.
They removed roadblocks erected around the venue by the authorities to keep the opposition alliance from holding its public meeting scheduled for November 30. Police were also deployed outside the stadium as part of efforts to stop the PDM rally.
Asifa Bhutto Zardari, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Maulana Fazlur Rehman and other leaders are slated to address the PDM rally for which the host party, PPP, has also prepared Plans B and C.
