Coronavirus death toll hits 1,458,112 worldwide

WASHINGTON: The global epidemic of coronavirus has infected 62,564,449 people in the world and 1,458,112 people have lost their lives.

The number of coronavirus cases across the world has surged to 62,564,449, while the pandemic has so far claimed more than 1,458,112 people live across the globe. As many as 43,188,705 patients have been cured and at present, the number of active cases is 17,917,632.

The United States and India are the most affected by the virus in the world. The number of people infected with coronavirus in the United States has risen 13,610,357 with 272,254 deaths.

India ranks second among the countries affected by the coronavirus, with more than 9,390,791 people affected and a total death toll of 136,705. Brazil is the third most affected country by the coronavirus with more than 6,290,272 patients and 172,637 deaths.

Russia is the fourth most affected country by the coronavirus, with more than 2,242,633 people infected and 39,068 deaths. France ranks fifth among countries infected with the coronavirus, with 52,127 deaths and more than 2,208,699 reported cases.

Spain’s position remains sixth among countries infected with the coronavirus, with 44,668 deaths and more than 1,646,192 reported cases.

In Peru, more than 960,368 people have been affected and 35,879 have lost their lives. The death toll from coronavirus in South Africa has risen to 21,439 with more than 785,139 people affected. 

More than 1,100,683 people have been affected in Mexico, while the country reported 105,459 deaths. Colombia has recorded 36,401 fatalities and 1,299,613, infections. In Chile, nearly 548,941 cases were confirmed, including more than 15,322 deaths.

Italy, which recorded its first coronavirus death at the end of February, has 54,363 fatalities, while 1,564,532 infections. Saudi Arabia has reported 5,870 deaths and 356,911 cases.

The death toll stands at 47,486 in Iran as the confirmed number of cases is almost 935,799. Germany has reported 14,239 deaths and 918,271 infections.

Turkey reported 578,347 coronavirus cases and 13,373 fatalities. China has to date declared 4,634 deaths and 86,512 cases, with 81,598 recoveries and 280 active cases of the virus.
