The Motorway Police set a remarkable example of honesty by returning gold jewellery worth Rs2.2 million to its rightful owner.
According to a Motorway Police spokesperson, officers discovered a bag lying on the roadside during routine patrol near Gwadar. The bag contained valuable gold jeweler worth Rs2.2 million along with other belongings.
The spokesperson said the police launched efforts through social media and local networks to trace the owner. After completing the necessary legal and verification procedures, the valuables were handed back to their rightful owner.
The owner was reportedly unaware that the bag had fallen onto the road during the journey.
Last year, the Railway Police Karachi Division also demonstrated exceptional integrity by returning Rs3.8 million in cash to a passenger.
According to Pakistan Railways, the incident occurred on December 26 when passenger Mohsin Mushtaq was travelling from Karachi to Toba Tek Singh on the Pakistan Express. When the train reached Hyderabad station, he disembarked briefly for personal reasons, but the train departed before he could return. His luggage, containing nearly Rs3.8 million in cash, remained onboard.
Pakistan Railways said Constable Rao Sharif found the bag during duty and immediately secured it. Meanwhile, Mohsin Mushtaq reported the matter to the railway police station, leading to the successful return of his belongings.
