A Pennsylvania mother, Lisa Snyder, 41, has appeared in court for her murder trial, showcasing a noticeably slimmer figure compared to her September 2019 mugshot.
Snyder is accused of hanging her two children, eight-year-old Conner and four-year-old Brinley, with a dog leash five years ago after an alleged sexual act with her pit bull.
During the proceedings in Reading, the court was presented with the silver dog leash used in the alleged crime, as well as wooden kitchen chairs from which the children were reportedly hanged.
Snyder displayed little emotion as police revealed the chilling evidence. She denies the murder charges and has suggested that Conner, who faced bullying at school, may have taken his own life while also harming his sister to avoid dying alone.
Although initially investigated for allegedly having sexual relations with her pet pit bull before the incident, that inquiry was dropped as the focus shifted to the murder case. The trial commenced with disturbing revelations about Snyder’s online activity leading up to the deaths, including searches for suicide methods and a show titled “Almost Got Away With It.”
Prosecutors highlighted that footprints found on the chairs matched Conner’s, contradicting Snyder’s claims of suicide. Snyder had called 911 claiming she was unable to free her children due to extreme anxiety. Both children were taken off life support three days after being discovered in their Albany Township home. A coroner ruled their deaths as homicides caused by hanging. The prosecution is seeking the death penalty, while Snyder’s defense plans to argue insanity due to her history of severe mental health issues. The decision on her fate will rest with the judge rather than a jury.
