Samiullah, who had gone missing from Islamabad, returned home on Tuesday after the Islamabad High Court (IHC) issued a warning to Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Ali Nasir Rizvi to recover him within three days.
Samiullah had disappeared from within the jurisdiction of Sangjani police station in Islamabad. Following his return, the petition filed for his recovery was withdrawn on Tuesday.
Justice Arbab Tahir presided over the case in place of Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, who was on leave. Earlier, Justice Kayani had cautioned the Islamabad IGP on Friday, threatening to register an FIR against him if Samiullah was not located within the specified three-day period.
During the court proceedings, Justice Tahir inquired about the progress made in the case and questioned whether the police had reviewed the CCTV footage. The petitioner’s counsel informed the court that despite examining footage from Safe City cameras, the situation remained unclear. However, CCTV cameras in the vicinity identified a vehicle believed to have been used by the kidnappers, observed in the Red Zone area, the counsel disclosed.
