Dr. Zaid Makda, a doctor from Karachi who had been missing since July 24, has safely returned home, according to his family.
Dr. Makda, a respected physician at Liaquat National Hospital, disappeared on July 24 after leaving home for work. Friends and colleagues took to social media, describing Dr. Makda’s situation as a “kidnapping” and urging the public to pray for his safe return, while also questioning the police’s response.
According to his father, Dr. Makda, who works in the emergency department of a prominent hospital, left home at 8:30 a.m. on July 24 for work. When he did not return by his usual time of 4 p.m., the family tried to contact him at 4:30 p.m. but found his phone switched off.
His father explained that the family then contacted the hospital, only to learn that Dr. Makda had never arrived for his shift that day. After searching unsuccessfully, the family contacted the police and filed a missing persons report, fearing that Dr. Makda had been kidnapped by unknown individuals for unknown reasons.
News of his safe return was shared on social media by his aunt, who expressed gratitude for the support, saying, “My nephew, Dr. Zaid Makda, is back home.”
It is worth noting that in July, another prominent figure, Zulfiqar Ahmed, the owner of Cola Next, also went missing under mysterious circumstances in Karachi but returned home after five days.
