Miserable economy

Nadeem Moulvi by Nadeem Moulvi
November 27, 2021

The Pakistani people and government are always in a hurry. In our quest to become leader or rich hurriedly, we make such decisions that always lead to loss or regret. When it comes to politicians, the policies and legislation are limited to their caste and party.

However, sometimes in the cycle of their advertising the politicians make such decisions that put pressure on the national economy and destroy the institutions. Every minister in his time tries to recruit his own people in his subordinate body so that their vote bank can be strong. That is why no government institution in the country has been successful till date.

Regardless of politics, if we look at the people, the people also take full advantage of the quota system and grab wherever they get a job under this system. Their only mission is to get a government job that, according to them, will make their life better and peaceful.

The fact is that salaries in government jobs are many times lower compared to private jobs and it is not possible to live a good life in government salaries. But government employees take full advantage of their power and live like a king.

While in government service, employees get opportunity of bribery and corruption though which they fulfill all their desires. And to further strengthen the habit of corruption and bribery, such people jumps into the arena of politics and lives a luxurious life free from all legitimate and illegitimate.

Politicians say they are fed up with government employees and bureaucrats as institutions are no longer under the control of the government. Instead of finding out the reason, even the political people today are forced to flatter the people of these institutions.

The way to eradicate corruption should be to give the employee a salary and authority according to his ability so that he can use his powers properly and serve his organization. We have not learned anything from the past till today. Institutions were built constantly, which increased the burden on the national treasury for 74 years.

First we set up a police department, then we set up FIA. Later, anti-corruption was formed and then NAB was constituted. However, if we look, all this work can be done by one institution. But for our convenience, we have divided the same work into several parts and that is why things have got worse instead of getting better.

Every institution tries to enforce its rules and regulations which make matters worse. Every institution is forcing the citizens for its own monopoly and to make money. In this regard the country’s person is forced to commit a heinous crime.

Corruption has turned our social, political and religious life upside down. Corruption is the biggest obstacle in the way of country’s development. No institution of the country has remained safe from the scourge of corruption. Corruption is a social injustice and those who commit corruption rob the people of their rights and betray the country.

If a politician, bureaucrat, businessman or industrialist is caught, he spends less time in jail and more luxurious day and night in hospital. After which the corrupt elements easily get rid of the punishment by paying ten to twenty percent of the looted money to NAB through pre-bargaining and live a life of luxury with the remaining money.

Every ruler is busy putting Pakistan’s assets at stake to humiliate others, every ruler wants to leave his predecessor behind but for this Pakistan is being plunged into a quagmire of debts.

It would have taken 20 to 25 years for the plans made in the last 10 years to be carried out considering the same economic situation in another country but our rulers tried to take advantage of CPEC by imposing an unnecessary burden on the economy to please China. But so far CPEC has not been of any use. On the contrary, the economy has been ruined.
