Mir Shakilur Rehman sent on 12-day physical remand in property case

LAHORE: An accountability court on Friday send Chief Executive Officer of the Geo, Jang Group Mir Shakilur Rahman on physical remand for 12-days in the illegal property case.

As per details, the NAB team presented Rahman before accountability judge Ameer Mohammad Khan while the NAB was represented by its prosecutor Hafiz Asadullah. Senior Lawyer Aitzaz Ahsan as a defense lawyer from the Mir Shakilur Rahman side.

Earlier, On Thursday, NAB had apprehended the media tycoon in a case pertaining to the purchase of a 54 acres land in Lahore.

During the hearing, replying to a question about the cause behind the arrest of the Mir Shakilur Rahman, the NAB lawyer said that he was apprehended after he botched to give the record to prove the legal acquirement of 54 acres land in Lahore during the occupancy of Shehbaz Sharif in 1986.

However, the allegation was rejected and termed as baseless by the lawyer of Mir Shakilur Rahman. The lawyer of Rahman further revealed that NAB apprehended his client without hearing his stance on the orders of its chief. After hearing the arguments, the court sent Mir Shakilur Rahman on 11 days remand for further investigation.
