Despite the ongoing financial crisis in the country particularly in the province, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government has opted to increase the salaries, allowances, and benefits of its ministers and cabinet members.
According to a private news channel, the provincial government has decided to enhance these financial provisions for its officials. Documents reveal that ministers based in Peshawar will receive a monthly housing subsidy of Rs 2 lakh. This subsidy is pending cabinet approval.
Earlier this year, the provincial government approved the Ministerial Perks and Salary Amendment Bill. Notable amendments in the bill include a substantial increase in the monthly house rent allowance for cabinet members, which has risen from Rs. 70,000 to Rs. 200,000.
Under the updated policy, cabinet members without government-provided housing are now entitled to rent a property costing up to Rs. 200,000 per month, with utility expenses also covered. Additionally, the budget for renovating cabinet members’ homes has been significantly increased from Rs. 500,000 to Rs. 1 million.
