A 2.1 magnitude earthquake was recorded south of Malir, Karachi, on Thursday, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
The seismic event occurred at 2:23 PM at a shallow depth of 5 kilometers. Its coordinates were recorded at 24.85° North latitude and 67.21° East longitude.
This tremor comes on the heels of a series of low-intensity earthquakes that affected Karachi earlier in the week.
The PMD reported six seismic events over Sunday and Monday. The first quake occurred on Sunday, June 1, at 5:33 PM, measuring 3.6 in magnitude with a depth of 10 kilometers. It was centered near Quaidabad.
On Monday, June 2, five additional earthquakes were recorded, ranging from magnitudes 2.2 to 3.2. The epicenters were located near Quaidabad, Gadap Town, and southeast of Malir, with depths varying from 10 to 188 kilometers.
