Finance Minister Miftah Ismail has said that he would be pleased with being replaced with senior PML-N leader Ishaq Dar.
In an interview with a private news channel, Miftah Ismail said that Ishaq Dar was likely to return to Pakistan in the third week of July. The former finance minister can head back to the country if he desired so, Ismail added.
According to Miftah, Dar is his elder and is already a part of the economic team. The finance minister also revealed that recent economic decisions of increasing fuel prices came after taking the PML-N leader on board.
According to the minister, he would be reluctant to accept the role of state minister for finance. The finance minister’s statement followed Ishaq Dar confirming his return to the country next month, saying he was currently preparing for his homecoming.
The PML-N federal government made Miftah Ismail the federal finance minister as soon as it came to power, while the federal cabinet headed by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has repeatedly expressed confidence in his decisions on the economy.
