A video of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz has gone viral on social media following her visit to Mayo Hospital Lahore on Thursday, and removed the Medical Superintendent (MS) after the patients made complaints about the poor condition of the health facility.
During Maryam Nawaz’s visit to Mayo Hospital, patients voiced numerous complaints, which angered her. She strongly reprimanded the hospital administration and immediately ordered the removal of the MS from the office.
As per media reports, Maryam expressed her frustration, saying that people are suffering, and no one is there to address their concerns. She stated that the condition of Mayo Hospital is extremely poor, and while people come with hope for treatment, the hospital administration is unaware of what is happening in different wards.
The Chief Minister remarked that if the same situation were to happen to the families of those responsible, they would understand the suffering. It is noteworthy that patients and their attendants informed Maryam about the unavailability of syringes and cannulas.
She became even more furious after receiving complaints about the presence of insects in the cardiology ward. She paused during her visit to listen to grievances from patients and attendants standing in waiting areas and hallways.
Maryam Nawaz became particularly upset after hearing a young girl say, “My mother is sick, and I ran around all night looking for medicines but couldn’t find any.” Witnessing the dire situation, the Chief Minister immediately convened an emergency meeting at Mayo Hospital during her visit, ordered a detailed inquiry into hospital affairs, and demanded explanations from those responsible.
She directed immediate measures for the payment of medicine dues and ensured 100% availability of medicines. Maryam Nawaz also instructed the Secretary of Health to identify those responsible and take action against them.
