Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has ordered a reduction in the price of roti (bread) following a decrease in flour prices, and directed that immediate steps be taken in this regard.
The Chief Minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz has instructed a reduction in roti prices across Punjab in light of the cheaper flour, and has ordered the Price Control Department to take immediate action to reduce roti rates.
Maryam Nawaz also instructed strict monitoring of the prices of chicken, vegetables, and lentils, stating that a poor child used to be able to eat affordable chicken once a week.
She said, “If chicken becomes more expensive, the poor won’t be able to afford it even once a week — and I cannot tolerate that. We will bring roti prices down to a historic low.”
“The benefit of reduced flour prices should directly reach the poor, and a new rate for roti will be set in proportion to the decrease in flour prices.” Maryam Nawaz added.
Yesterday, the Chief Minister of Punjab expressed displeasure over the rising chicken prices in the province and instructed the relevant departments to take measures for chicken price control.
Maryam Nawaz stated that any increase in the prices of essential vegetables before Eid-ul-Adha is completely unacceptable, and hoarding to artificially inflate vegetable prices will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
She had said that the increase in chicken prices despite the presence of government institutions is absolutely unacceptable.
