‘Mankad’ started trending on X after Afghanistan’s pacer Fazalhaq Farooqi ran out Shahdab Khan in the last over of the second ODI at the non-striking end.
Shahdab was backing up and was looking for a single to face the last over but Farooqi followed him up during his bowling action and ran him out.
In the sport of cricket, this act is named ‘Mankading’ after Indian international Vinoo Mankad. This is the informal name given to running out the non-striking batter whilst they are backing up, which is when they begin to leave the crease while the bowler is in their final delivery stride. The X users are blasting Farooqi for his action.
