ISLAMABAD: The parliamentary parties of opposition alliances have granted complete authority to Mahmood Khan Achakzai and Allama Raja Nasir Abbas to conduct negotiations on their behalf, according to details from a meeting held in Islamabad.

The meeting of opposition parliamentary parties was held under the chairmanship of Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Mahmood Khan Achakzai.

Sources said that the parliamentary party of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and allied opposition groups passed a resolution authorising the leaders of opposition in both houses of Parliament to take all decisions regarding negotiations.

The resolution stated that any decision taken by Mahmood Khan Achakzai would be binding on the entire parliamentary party.

Speaking to media after the meeting, Mahmood Khan Achakzai said it was decided that the opposition would launch a movement while maintaining peace and avoiding abusive language. He added that the opposition’s stance remains focused on defending the Constitution.

PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said the parliamentary party collectively agreed that any attempt to exclude the party founder would not be acceptable.

Meanwhile, Allama Raja Nasir Abbas said that the decision to engage in dialogue should not be seen as a sign of weakness. He stressed that dialogue is essential for the country’s stability and suggested that the Prime Minister should come to the opposition leader’s chamber for talks.

The opposition leaders reiterated that while they remain committed to political struggle, all efforts would be pursued within constitutional and peaceful limits.
