With lots of cancel culture and boycott trends against many major Indian movies, a few of them managed to rule the box office.
MM News has listed the highest-grosser of 2022; let’s have a look:
1) RRR
RRR is a Telugu-language masterpiece that became one of the best films of the year. The movie is based on an inspiring historical drama about Indian citizens rebelling against the British Raj in the 1920s.
RRR crossed the 1,000 crore ($132M) mark worldwide over the weekend to become the No. 3 Indian film of all time globally.
2) Ponniyin Selvan: 1
Mani Ratnam’s epic movie ‘Ponniyin Selvan: 1′ smashed box-office records as it stands as one of the biggest Tamil movies of all times. PS 1’ is the second highest-grossing film ever from Kollywood, garnering Rs 508 crore in India.
3) Vikram
Kamal Haasan starrer ‘Vikram’ became a box office phenomenon across the world and also the highest-grossing Tamil film in the UK. The film has grossed over Rs 500 crore from its box office collections worldwide.
4) The Kashmir Files
Coming from the house of Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri, the film created a completely new kind of rage among the audience with its release. Having brought a story that touched the hearts of millions, the thought-provoking story made headlines with its humongous box office collections. Opened up with a collection of around 3 crores across India, the craze of the film went on to rise with time and booked a lifetime collection of around 252 crore in India.
5) KGF: Chapter 2
Yash-starrer ‘KGF 2’ has been one of the most awaited sequels of the year and it proved well with its release. With its humongous collection of 54 Cr. on the very first day in the Hindi market.
This figure certainly became a huge challenge for the other biggies of the industry who are still struggling to match the collections of KGF 2. Moreover, in India, the lifetime collection of the film amounted to around 434 crore.
6) Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2
Kartik Aaryan starter ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’ collected 14.11 crores making the film becoming one of the highest-grossing Hindi films of 2022 and also a big profit grosser for the producers who completed this film in a budget of 70-75 crores.
7) Brahmastra
Last but not least Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Brahmastra’ brought a huge collection to the box office windows. The film’s first-day collection amounted to 36 crores. In India, its lifetime collection went on to around 257 crores In India.
