Power supply to multiple areas of Karachi was interrupted on Sunday after a high transmission line operated by K-Electric tripped, causing widespread outages and the tripping of several grid stations.
The following areas were among those affected:
- Korangi
- Lyari
- Kharadar
- Defence
- I.I. Chundrigar Road
- North Karachi
- SITE
- North Nazimabad
- Jacob Line
K-Electric confirmed that the tripping of the Extra High Tension (EHT) line had led to the shutdown of feeders at multiple grid stations. A total of 84 feeders in the affected areas were impacted, with repair work already underway.
Additionally, the following grid stations experienced feeder outages:
- Baldia Grid: 49 feeders
- Airport Grid: 33 feeders
- Garden Grid: 40 feeders
- North Karachi Grid: 33 feeders
- Jacob Line Grid: 47 feeders
- Jail Road Grid: 28 feeders
- Orangi Grid: 38 feeders
- Mahmoodabad Grid: 16 feeders
- Korangi East Grid: 40 feeders
- DHA Grid: 23 feeders
- Old Golimar Grid: 31 feeders
- Vileka Grid: 33 feeders
- Defence Grid: 54 feeders
- KCR, Haroonabad, Shadman, and Clifton Grids: 38 feeders
In total, more than 400 feeders across 23 grid stations were impacted by the outage. K-Electric officials stated that efforts to restore power are underway, with hopes of service resumption soon.
