LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday rejected pre-arrest bail plea of interior minister Rana Sanaullah, sought against arrest warrants issued from Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Gujrat.
The Gujrat ATC on February 24 had issued bailable arrest warrants for Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah in an FIR, registered last year on a complaint of PML-Q leader Shahkaz Aslam for issuing life threats to the Punjab chief secretary and his family members.
According to the FIR, Sanaullah spoke against the judiciary and government officials in 2021, with the statements instilling anxiety, terror and unrest among the public.
Rana Sanaullah approached the LHC with plea to nullify the arrest warrants issued by Gujrat ATC.
However, a two-judges bench which heard the application on Monday, rejected Rana Sanaullah’s plea with instructions to approach the trial court. The court declared that it found no ambiguity in the trial court’s judgement, after which the case was disposed off.
