KARACHI: The Sindh government has announced the closure of schools, colleges, and other educational institutions on the 27th of Ramadan, also known as Laylat-al-Qadr.
Laylat-al-Qadr, otherwise known as the Night of Power, is considered to be the holiest night of the Islamic calendar. It is believed that during this night, Angel Jibril revealed the Holy Qur’an’s first verses to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
According to a notification issued by the Sindh education department, both government and private schools and colleges across the province will remain closed tomorrow.
This is not the first time educational institutions have been closed due to a religious occasion. On April 12, schools, colleges, and universities were closed to observe Youm-e-Ali. The official Eid holidays are also set to begin on April 21 for five days.
As per reports, Muslims across the world will observe special prayers tonight to mark the occasion of Laylat-al-Qadr.
