KARACHI: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) closed a range-bound session on Thursday with decent gains, as the indices swayed in both directions until finally settling in the green.
The benchmark KSE-100 Index started the day on a negative note, shedding nearly 500 points to touch its intraday low at 43,972.09 before the midday break. However, the index managed to recover all loses in the afternoon session to mark its intraday high at 44,899.60. It finally settled higher by 532.86 points at 44,899.60.
Among other indices, the KMI-30 Index gained 1198.49 to close at 72,315.95, whereas the KSE All Share Index gathered 406.09 points, settling at 30,668.89.
During the session, shares of 557 listed companies were traded. At the end of the session, 385 stocks closed in the green, 157 in the red, and 15 remained unchanged.
K-Electric was the volume leader with 32.5 million shares, gaining Rs0.69 to close at Rs4. It was followed by Byco Petroleum with 29.8 million shares, gaining Rs0.45 to close at Rs8.18, and Azgard Nine with 20.8 million shares, gaining Rs1.17 to close at Rs20.15.
