Lahore Qalandars won Pakistan Super League Edition Ten (PSL X) final beating Quetta Gladiators in the final by six wickets in Lahore last night.
Batting first, Quetta Gladiators scored 201 runs for the loss of nine wickets in the stipulated twenty overs.
Lahore Qalandars achieved the target, scoring 204 runs for the loss of four wickets in 19.5 overs.
Quetta’s Hasan Nawaz played a fiery innings, reaching a quick fifty with powerful drives and precise timing. However, his dismissal by Shaheen Shah Afridi at a critical stage halted Quetta’s charge and exposed the middle order.
The home side faced a crucial setback early in their chase as Fakhar Zaman was dismissed by Abrar Ahmed on 11 off 10 balls.
Abdullah Shafique then joined his opening partner Mohammad Naeem, and the two stitched a crucial 46-run partnership to take Qalandars to 85 in 8.3 overs.
Naeem was dismissed after a well-made 46 off 27 deliveries, while Shafique departed after scoring 41 off 28 balls, with the scoreboard showing 115/4 in 12.3 overs.
Kusal Perera was declared ‘Player Of The Match’, who scored sixty-two runs on just thirty-one balls and remained unbeaten.
By winning the third PSL title, Shaheen Afridi became the first captain to clinch three Editions.
President Asif Ali Zardari, who was the chief guest on the occasion, presented the trophy to Lahore Qalandars’ captain Shaheen Shah Afridi. Interior Minister and Chairman PCB Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi was also present on the occasion.
Lahore Qalandars not only etched their name in PSL history with a third championship win but also secured a massive financial reward, as they were awarded $500,000 (over PKR 140 million) for clinching the PSL 10 title.
