LAHORE: An A-category proclaimed offender wanted by Punjab Police for the past two years in a murder and attempted murder case has been arrested in Lahore with the assistance of the police’s advanced technological system.
The suspect was apprehended during a checking operation at the New Ravi police checkpoint after officers found him suspicious while he was traveling on public transport.
According to a Dolphin Police spokesperson, personnel of the Mobile Squad stopped the suspect and checked his criminal record through a mobile application. The verification revealed that he was a proclaimed offender wanted by the police.
The suspect was identified as Tajammal alias Manwar, who is wanted in a murder and attempted murder case registered at Saidwala Police Station in Nankana Sahib. Police said he had been hiding in Lahore for the past two years to evade arrest.
Following his arrest, the suspect was shifted to Shahdara Town Police Station for further legal proceedings. The concerned police station was also informed about the arrest.
SP Mobiles Bilal Ahmed said the e-Police Post application was being used at police checkpoints to immediately verify the records of suspicious individuals. He said the technology was proving effective in identifying and arresting proclaimed offenders and bringing them before the law.
