Lahore High Court Judge, Justice Shahid Jamil Khan, on Friday tendered his resignation, citing personal reasons. The judge, who was originally scheduled to retire in 2029, submitted his resignation letter to President Arif Alvi.
“It was an honor to hold the office, but due to personal circumstances, I have decided to turn the page and start a new chapter. ‘An ounce of discretion is worth a pound of wit’,” said the letter shared by court reporter Hasnaat Malik on X, formerly called Twitter.
He joins the list of jurists who recently resigned from the august house.
Last month, Justice Sayyed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi resigned from the Supreme Court, saying that it was no longer possible for him to continue due to circumstances that were “a matter of public knowledge”.
He was facing complaints of misconduct.
After that, SC judge Justice Ijazul Ahsan resigned from his position. He was slated to succeed Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa.
“I no longer wish to continue as a judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan,” he said in his resignation letter.
