The father of the Lahore private college student, initially reported as a rape victim, has publicly denied that his daughter was assaulted on the college campus.
On Monday, large-scale protests erupted in Lahore after reports circulated that a college student had been raped by a security guard. Demonstrators blocked Canal Road and gathered near Muslim Town Mor, prompting a significant deployment of Punjab police to control the crowd. During the protests, one student was injured by a college guard, and a female student required hospitalization due to deteriorating health.
The police reported on Sunday that the guard had been detained; however, no First Information Report (FIR) has been filed, as neither the victim nor her family has formally come forward. DIG Kamran confirmed that further action would be taken if a formal complaint is lodged.
Later, the student’s father, accompanied by ASP Shahrbano Naqvi, clarified that their family is not involved in the protests. He said that his daughter had suffered a domestic injury at home, resulting in a back sprain that led to her hospitalization. He expressed surprise at the protests and mentioned that they had provided medical reports to the police to clarify her condition.
The father urged students to consider the emotional distress caused by sharing his daughter’s images online. ASP Shahrbano Naqvi also appealed to the public to avoid spreading misinformation that could emotionally harm families, assuring that the police would act and file cases in any incidents affecting women.
