The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) continued its winning streak on Friday, with the benchmark KSE-100 Index climbing over 800 points.

At close, the benchmark index settled at 185,372.20, an increase of 851.24 points, or 0.46%.

The rally was driven by strong buying in heavyweight sectors, including commercial banks, fertilizer, chemicals, oil and gas exploration, oil marketing companies (OMCs), power generation and refineries. Major index contributors such as HUBCO, Mari Energies, OGDC, PPL, POL, PSO, NBP and UBL traded in positive territory.

The gains followed another positive session on Thursday, when the PSX extended its winning streak amid improved investor sentiment fueled by easing geopolitical tensions involving the United States and Iran and a decline in global oil prices.

However, late-session profit-taking trimmed much of the day’s advance.

The KSE-100 Index ended Thursday’s session at 184,520.96 points, up 470.86 points, or 0.26%.

The upbeat market performance came despite data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) showing the country’s trade deficit widened 21.57% to $39.471 billion in fiscal year 2025-26, compared with $32.467 billion a year earlier, as imports rose sharply while exports declined.
