KARACHI: The KSE‑100 Index Pakistan Stock Exchange began the new week on a positive note Monday morning, rebounding after last week’s bearish close.

At 9:35am, the benchmark index surged 814.94 points to 177,981.46, reflecting renewed investor confidence following a week in which the market shed nearly 2,938 points.

Weekly Recap: KSE‑100 Index Pakistan Stock Exchange under pressure

The index moved within a band of 5,048 points, hitting a high of 181,158 and a low of 176,110. Trading volumes reached 4.22 billion shares worth Rs205 billion, but market capitalization fell by Rs247 billion to Rs19,882 billion.

Analysts attributed the decline to inflationary concerns, petroleum price hikes, and external economic pressures.

Monday Session: PSX KSE‑100 performance rebounds

Monday’s opening session showed a reversal of sentiment. The All‑Share Index gained 430 points to 108,072.59, while the KSE‑30 rose 299 points to 52,970.58.

The KMI‑30 climbed 1,403 points to 252,863.99, and the banking index added 301 points to 50,286.09. Trading activity was brisk, with over 51 million shares exchanged, valued at Rs1.67 billion across 13,363 trades. Out of 568 active symbols, 225 advanced, 81 declined, and 262 remained unchanged.

Market watchers noted that the rebound reflects bargain hunting and selective accumulation after last week’s steep losses. The KSE‑100 points movement suggests investors are cautiously optimistic, though external risks such as global oil volatility and regional uncertainty remain in play.

Outlook: Volatility remains a challenge

Analysts caution that while Monday’s rebound is encouraging, sustainability will depend on fiscal clarity and policy signals from the government.

The KSE‑100 Index Pakistan Stock Exchange continues to mirror the tug‑of‑war between bargain hunters and cautious sellers, with volatility expected to dominate trading in the sessions ahead.
