In response to the ongoing heatwave and soaring temperatures, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has adjusted school timings for all public and private educational institutions across the province.
Under the revised schedule, schools will now open at 7:15 a.m. Primary classes will conclude at 11:50 a.m., while middle and high schools will dismiss students at 12:15 p.m. Reports indicate that specific dismissal times may vary slightly depending on the district and grade level.
The provincial authorities stated that the decision was taken to safeguard students and staff from the risks posed by extreme weather, and to limit prolonged exposure to the heat during school hours.
Meanwhile, the Punjab government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, has announced the commencement of summer vacations in all public and private schools from May 28 to August 14. The announcement follows consultations with the provincial education department and relevant stakeholders. A formal notification has been issued.
