ISLAMABAD: A contingent of police and rangers have entered the KP House in federal capital to arrest Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur.
The development comes shortly after the KP chief minister, who left for the federal capital a day earlier for holding protest at D-Chowk, reached Islamabad amid imposition of Section 144.
Clashes were also reported at the entry points of the capital city between Islamabad and PTI workers, escalating the situation further ahead of the SCO summit.
Reports said police resorted to tear gas shelling to prevent the PTI workers from entering the capital city while the other side pelted stones, injuring some security officials.
Meanwhile, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has emphatically stated that nobody will be allowed to sabotage the SCO summit to be held this month.
Talking to media, Naqvi said he is in constant touch with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. He mentioned that the Army and FC have been deployed in the capital and that maximum deployment of security personnel will be ensured.
The interior minister regretted that the protest led by the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa fired on police personnel in addition to using tear gas. He stated that we have an idea of the motives behind it.
