LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Friday filed a petition in the Lahore High Court (LHC) seeking protective bail in a case registered against him in Islamabad under sedition charges.
The FIR was registered against him by Ramna Police Station on April 7, following a complaint from a magistrate who alleged that Mr. Khan had used “inappropriate” language against officers of a sensitive institution.

According to the FIR, Mr. Khan had attempted to defame various officers of sensitive institutions by taking their names and that he had used social media for his “nefarious designs.” The FIR further stated that Mr. Khan’s actions were a threat to the integrity of the country and the state, and that he had spread chaos among various groups, sections, and the army with his speeches.
In his petition filed today, the PTI Chairman made complainant Maznoor Ahmed respondent and claimed that the FIR was politically motivated and was lodged in violation of the laws. He has pleaded with the high court to grant him protective bail so he could approach the relevant court in this regard.
