Pakistani playwright Khalilur Rehman Qamar, known for his work on “Mere Paas Tum Ho,” has spoken out about a distressing incident in which he was kidnapped, tortured, and robbed.
Qamar revealed in a podcast that during the ordeal, his captors mentioned the names of well-known actors Nauman Ijaz and Saba Qamar.
He speculated that the kidnappers used their names to intimidate him, though he expressed that any personal differences with the actors did not diminish his respect for their acting skills.
Initially, Qamar was hesitant to report the crime, partly due to the high-profile names mentioned by the kidnappers. Despite this, he eventually filed a case with the Lahore police, who have recorded his statement.
The First Information Report (FIR) details that the kidnappers tortured Qamar, took him to various locations, and threatened his life while demanding money from his relatives. They eventually blindfolded him and abandoned him in a remote area before fleeing.
Qamar also shared that he received unexpected support from Indian fans, contrasting it with the criticism he faced domestically. Following the incident, his wife is contemplating leaving Pakistan, although Qamar himself remains attached to his country and has no plans to relocate.
The case has drawn significant attention, and authorities are investigating the matter further.
