The government has announced a sharp increase in kerosene oil prices, raising the rate by Rs 70.73 per liter.
The new price, now set at Rs 428.74 per liter, has come into effect immediately, with officials citing global market fluctuations as the reason behind the steep hike.
Officials said that the decision to raise the price of kerosene oil was made in view of fluctuations in global market prices.

Last week, the government jacked up the price of kerosene oil by Rs40 per liter, making it the most expensive fuel at Rs358 per liter.
It should be noted the price of kerosene oil has risen by Rs240 since March 1.
