Keanu Reeves has unveiled a new career direction by co-authoring his inaugural novel. The renowned John Wick actor shared the news during a pre-recorded segment on Good Morning America on January 10, revealing his collaboration with award-winning author China Miéville on the book titled “The Book of Elsewhere.”
Set within the universe of the BRZRKR comic series, a creation of Reeves alongside writer Matt Kindt and artist Ron Garney, the novel revolves around an immortal warrior embarking on a quest to unravel the mysteries behind his eternal life.
Expressing his enthusiasm, Reeves stated, “It was extraordinary to have the opportunity to collaborate on The Book of Elsewhere with one of my favourite authors, China Miéville. China did exactly what I was hoping for — he came in with a clear architecture for the story and how he wanted to play with the world of BRZRKR, a world that I love so much. I was thrilled with his vision and feel honoured to be a part of this collaborative process.”
Miéville reciprocated the excitement, remarking, “Sometimes the greatest games are those you play with other people’s toys. It was an honour, a shock and a delight when Keanu invited me to play. But I could never have predicted how generous he’d be with toys he’s spent so long creating, how glad to experiment together, how open to true collaboration.” He concluded, “I hope readers get to experience even a fraction of the pleasure reading The Book of Elsewhere that I experienced in the writing — in the serious business of play.”

The BRZRKR comic series achieved the status of the number one bestselling comic debut in over 25 years. Its narrative will further unfold with a live-action Netflix film featuring Reeves and an anime spin-off. In addition to this literary venture, Reeves is set to reprise his iconic role as John Wick in the upcoming spin-off film, Ballerina, situated between the second and third installments of the popular franchise. The film will see Reeves alongside Ana de Armas, star of No Time to Die.
