Karachi’s bright future

Hunaid Lakhani by Hunaid Lakhani
November 28, 2020

In the early 60s, Karachi used to be one of the most beautiful cities in the world. A peaceful and glorious Karachi where diplomats and tourists from all over the world roamed fearlessly. At that time, bazaars in Karachi contained the latest products from around the world, some of which could not be found anywhere else except in these bazaars.

The people of the metropolis were very smart. The bureaucrats in the offices believed in serving the people. Probably, the readers may not have witnessed all of what I have described. But those who saw it always narrate this beautiful reality, which has now become a delusion.

This was a time when Pakistan’s quality of education was appreciated all over the world, Students from all over the world, including Europe, Arab countries, Africa, Iran, Afghanistan and China used to come to Pakistan to study. Karachi’s banking system was very lively. People used to open their businesses here that become prosperous in a few days.

The electricity and gas system for the convenience of the people was surprisingly so good that people were not even aware of issues like load shedding. When I think about this scenario, sometimes my eyes fill up with tears. I wonder who were the rulers who kept destroying this city and who were the people who stood silently watching the destruction?

Our Karachi which was once known as the city of lights has now been termed the dirtiest city, with piles of garbage and overflowing gutters everywhere. Today, where there used to be playgrounds, mafia people have constructed huge buildings. They easily acquire the opportunity to play with the lives of human beings by giving bribe to the concerned authorities.

The beauty of this city was ruined under a conspiracy. The people are now familiar with this fact and have also come to know these corrupt politicians of the past. Today, many people, including me, have told the story of this catastrophe and devastation, and now fortunately, the head of this country, Imran Khan, will put Pakistan back on the path of development and prosperity.

Nowadays, some news is circulating on social media regarding the preparations for Karachi Vision 2050. According to the circulating news, it has been decided to make Karachi a federal territory and Hyderabad the capital of Sindh. In order to save Karachi from further devastation, Karachi will be kept under permanent federal control. FATA senate seats will be allotted to Karachi.

In the first phase, the federal government will implement the Governor’s Rule in Sindh and dismiss the provincial government. After which, by issuing a presidential ordinance, Karachi will be declared a federal territory and a chief administrator will be appointed.

In order to maintain law and order in Sindh and Karachi, the army will be prepared to deal with emergencies by enforcing 144 for six months. Additional Rangers and FC troops will be deployed before Governor Rule.

The government will implement a federal and local government system, eliminating districts in Karachi and forming 40 towns and 320 union committees. Fifty billion rupees will be given to the Karachi local government every year from the federal pool. After all of this, the federal government will have an additional revenue of Rs 472 billion. The country will be economically stable.

One lakh employees who got jobs from rural quota in Karachi will be sent back to Sindh after which youth from all over the country including Karachi will get jobs on federal quota. Tehsils of Mirpur Sakro, Kati Bandar, Gadani, Hub and Makmal will be included in the boundaries of Karachi.

The country’s largest international airport will be built on the Karachi M-9 Motorway, while the federal government has already announced the construction of a barrage near the sea, from where water will be supplied to Karachi while a water line will be laid from Kanjhar Lake for new settlements to be formed on the motorway.

In addition, a modern Hong Kong-style international city will be built on two islands of Karachi in collaboration with international companies, in which a $50 billion deal with the companies is in the final stages. Readers, as mentioned, this piece of writing is a small firefly of news circulating on social media. Let’s see who wants to witness the light of this firefly.
