Karachi Traffic Police reopen Fauzia Wahab U-Turn following public backlash

KARACHI: The Fauzia Wahab U-turn in Karachi has been reopened for vehicles traveling from Baloch Colony Bridge, reversing a temporary closure implemented yesterday (Monday) to alleviate severe congestion on Shara-e-Faisal.

The initial decision to erect barriers and divert traffic toward the President’s residence backfired, causing significant bottlenecks on Baloch Colony Bridge and forcing motorcyclists to take dangerous wrong-way routes onto Tipu Sultan Road.

Police officials stated that the U-turn will be closed again only after proper public notice is issued, emphasizing that the current reopening is a corrective measure to restore smooth traffic flow.

The Tipu Sultan U-turn remains a critical junction for traffic returning from the airport and Baloch Colony, where sharp turns had previously caused dangerous delays for vehicles heading toward Saddar. Citizens traveling between Shaheed Millat Road and the airport, as well as those moving from Nursery to Baloch Colony, can now resume using the standard U-turn under the Fauzia Wahab Bridge.
