Karachi Traffic Police announced on Saturday a detailed traffic diversion strategy for the forthcoming 12th edition of the International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (Ideas) 2024.
This exhibition will take place at the Karachi Expo Center from November 19 to 22 and will showcase cutting-edge defense equipment and weaponry.
During the duration of the international exhibition, Sir Shah Muhammad Suleman Road from Hassan Square to Stadium will be closed from 7 am to 7 pm, stated Deputy Inspector General Traffic Police Karachi Ahmed Nawaz.
Additionally, the roads linking University Road and Stadium Road to the Expo Centre will be shut down from November 19 to 22. He mentioned that smaller vehicles will be permitted on roads surrounding the Expo Centre, while heavy traffic will be prohibited.
The DIG noted that roads leading to the Expo will also be blocked from 7 am to 7 pm, which includes the route from Hassan Square Flyover to National Stadium Road.
The police further highlighted that the road from Dalmia Road Stadium Signal to Hassan Square on the right side will be closed, as well as the road from Nipa on University Road passing to the left of the Expo.
At the same time, all heavy and commercial vehicles, including water tankers coming from Sharea Faisal, will be restricted from entering Karsaz Road and will be directed via Drigh Road.
Heavy and commercial traffic will similarly be prohibited from Rashid Minhas Road to Stadium Road, according to the police. They added that traffic will be redirected to Sharea Faisal and Nipa Chowrangi from Askari 4.
However, vehicles will not be permitted to travel from Nipa and Jail Chowrangi to Hassan Square; instead, they can utilize Shaheed-e-Millat Road or Teen Hatti Road.
The traffic police mentioned that heavy and commercial vehicles will not be allowed to travel from University Road to Stadium Road and will be redirected to PP Chowrangi and Shaheed-e-Millat Road.
Furthermore, heavy and commercial traffic will not have access from Liaquatabad No 10 to Hassan Square and will instead be rerouted towards Teen Hatti.
Residents are encouraged to take the route from Gharibabad to Shara Faisal or from Hassan Square and Nipa to reach Sir Shah Suleman Road.
