ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has warned of a heatwave in Karachi from today and the temperature in the city could go up to 40 to 42 degrees Celsius.
Karachi’s mercury is likely to remain at 42 degrees for seven days. The PMD said that citizens should not leave their homes unnecessarily between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. The Meteorological Department has issued a heatwave alert across Karachi and Sindh. Winds will blow from the north and northwest in the city during the heatwave.
According to Director Meteorological Department, Sardar Sarfraz, the heatwave will be felt in Karachi and other parts of Sindh and the heatwave will last for a week. The Meteorological Department said that the authorities of the concerned authorities have also been directed to take necessary steps regarding heatwave.

He appealed to the people not to leave their homes unnecessarily between 11:00 am and 4:00 pm. Sindh will be exposed to hot and dry winds coming from the north and northwest next week. Following the threat of heatwave in Karachi, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority has written a letter to the concerned agencies to take necessary steps.
Thundershowers are expected in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan. Rain is also expected in Chitral, Dir, Malakand, Swat, Darosh, Mansehra, Kohistan, Khyber, Peshawar, and Mardan.
