Karachi endured another sweltering day on Monday as temperatures soared to 39°C (Feel-like 42° Celsius) accompanied by 47 percent humidity, creating severe discomfort for residents.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has warned that hot and humid conditions are expected to persist throughout the week, with temperatures likely to rise further toward the weekend.
According to a PMD spokesperson, humidity levels are anticipated to remain elevated, significantly increasing the “feels-like” temperature and heightening the risk of heat-related health issues. “Weather models indicate a sharp rise in temperature during the latter half of the week,” the official said. “Residents are advised to take precautions, limit outdoor exposure during peak daylight hours, and stay well-hydrated.”
On Sunday, the city recorded a high of 40°C, with oppressive humidity pushing the perceived temperature closer to 45°C. Meteorological experts further noted that a low-pressure system currently over Maharashtra, India, is not expected to bring any rainfall to Sindh, including Karachi.
As a result, dry and stifling conditions are forecast to continue, with temperatures likely to remain between 40°C and 41°C through Friday.
