At least 67 individuals were admitted to Civil Hospital in Karachi on Monday due to the heatwave.
Sources confirmed that these patients were suffering from fever, and according to Dr. Nizam Shaikh, the head of the heat stroke ward, all admitted individuals had a fever of 101 degrees Fahrenheit.
Among those admitted, eighteen individuals presented with high fever, but heatstroke was not confirmed.
Dr. Nizam explained that the high fever and other illnesses are emerging due to the extreme heat. He advised the public to stay hydrated by drinking more water and to avoid going outside unnecessarily during this season.
Meanwhile, the meteorological department reported that temperatures in Karachi could reach 40 to 41 degrees Celsius, with the perceived heat intensity feeling as high as 46 degrees.
The department also warned that a heat stroke-like situation could persist in Karachi for the next three days.
Winds are presently blowing at a speed of 15 kilometres per hour, with forecasts predicting an increase to 20 kilometres per hour throughout the day. Despite the wind, the absence of sea breezes has left the city sweltering under the intense heat and humidity.
