Flour mill owners in Karachi have begun setting up fair price stalls across the city, where a 10-kilogram bag of flour is being sold for Rs1,250 as part of an initiative to provide affordable flour to consumers.
The move follows an announcement by the Pakistan Flour Mills Association, which said flour would be made available at Rs125 per kilogram through designated fair price stalls.
Etihad Flour Mills in Etihad Town has already installed banners at its fair price stall and started selling 10-kilogram flour bags at the announced price of Rs1,250.
The initiative comes after a meeting held on Monday under the chairmanship of Karachi Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi, attended by the chairman and members of the Pakistan Flour Mills Association.
During the meeting, flour mill owners agreed to establish fair price stalls throughout the city and supply flour at the subsidized rate of Rs125 per kilogram.
