In a heartwarming display of honesty, a Karachi traffic police inspector has returned over Rs500,000 to an elderly man who had lost his bag containing the money and his passport while applying for his Hajj visa.
According to reports, Muhammad Yousuf, a resident of Shah Latif Town, dropped his bag containing his passport and Rs515,000 while on his way to obtain his Hajj visa.
Traffic Inspector Rana Latif, while on patrol near Bukhari Signal, discovered the bag. Upon inspection, he found two passports and the substantial sum of money inside.
Inspector Latif located the owner’s contact information on a slip of paper inside the bag and contacted him. Yousuf confirmed the bag’s contents and was reunited with his belongings, including his and his wife’s passports, after verification. His son was also present at the scene.
Yousuf expressed his gratitude for the inspector’s honesty, praising his integrity and dedication to duty.
The Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Traffic Police has announced commendation certificates and cash rewards for Inspector Rana Latif and Constable Mir Zaman for their exemplary conduct. The incident has been widely lauded as a testament to the integrity within the police force.
