K2 Airways crash: Family of pilot seeks CEO’s return for investigation

The family of Captain Rizwan Idrees, a K2 Airways pilot who lost his life in the recent aircraft crash, has launched an online petition urging authorities to bring the airline’s Chief Executive Officer, Raja Tariq Majeed, back from the United Arab Emirates to assist with the ongoing investigation.

Filed under the title “Justice for K2 Airways Crew,” the petition calls on the Bureau of Aircraft Safety Investigation (BASI) to ensure the CEO returns to Pakistan for questioning as investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash.

The K2 Airways aircraft went down in the Arabian Sea near Ormara on July 7 while flying from Sharjah to Karachi. Five crew members were on board at the time of the accident.

Despite extensive search and recovery efforts, none of the crew members have been located. Investigators have recovered some sections of the aircraft, but the flight data recorder (black box) and the aircraft’s engine are still missing, posing a major challenge to the investigation.

Meanwhile, a BASI team led by Director Ahsan Nauman has returned to Karachi to continue its inquiry. As part of the investigation, officials visited K2 Airways’ offices at Karachi Airport and inspected Northern Tech, the engineering company responsible for maintaining the airline’s aircraft.
