K-Electric strongly condemns the attacks on its offices and the violent protests, a spokesperson for the power utility said on Monday.
“It is completely unacceptable to take K-Electric staff hostage in an attempt to enforce illegitimate demands,” the spokesperson added.
According to K-Electric, miscreants from the P&T Colony attacked the Defence IBC office, causing damage to property. The spokesperson also revealed that outstanding dues from defaulters in P&T Colony have exceeded Rs. 520 million due to prolonged non-payment.
“Strict legal action is being taken against those involved in the violence and property damage,” the K-Electric spokesperson stated.
K-Electric has appealed to law enforcement agencies for full cooperation in discouraging electricity theft and the growing culture of non-payment of bills.
“The provision of free electricity is simply not possible,” the spokesperson asserted.
Loadshedding, the spokesperson noted, is carried out strictly according to the schedule published on the official K-Electric website.
Residents have been urged to ensure timely payment of electricity bills.
“Timely payments and complete avoidance of electricity theft directly contribute to reducing or eliminating load shedding in affected areas,” the statement concluded.
