BAJAUR: The death toll from the bomb blast targeting the convention of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) in Bajaur district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has reached 42.
According to Rescue 1122, more than sixty injured have been admitted to different hospitals in Peshawar and Timergara.
The rescue teams have sent the bodies of the martyrs to their native areas. Rescue 1122 has deputed additional ambulances in Khaar and Timergara for an emergency situation.
At least 42 were killed and more than 150 were injured in a bomb blast that took place in Shanday Morr near the NADRA office in Khar tehsil where more than 400 people were gathered.
JUI-F Khar Ameer Maulana Ziaullah Jan and Hamidullah were killed in the incident. Three Pakistan Army helicopters took part in the rescue mission and 10 critically wounded persons were shifted to Peshawar’s Lady Reading Hospital.
Caretaker KP Information Minister said that over 150 persons were injured in the bombing incident. He said hospitals in Bajaur and nearby areas were put on high alert and critically wounded persons were shifted to Peshawar.
Inspector General Frontier Corps (IG FC) Major General Noor Wali Khan reached Bajaur and supervised the rescue activities.
JUI-F central leader Hafiz Hamdullah said that he was expected to attend the workers’ convention. He condemned the bomb blast and said it was an attempt to spread chaos and terrorism.
JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman expressed sorrow over the bomb explosion and demanded the prime minister and caretaker KP chief minister conduct a high-level inquiry. He prayed for eternal rest for the departed souls and the early recovery of the injured workers.
He appealed to the JUI-F workers to stay peaceful and immediately reach the hospital to donate blood for the injured persons. He also demanded the federal and provincial government to provide the best medical facilities to the wounded persons.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor, Haji Ghulam Ali visited Lady Reading (LRH) Hospital where he inquired after the health of Bajaur blast victims.
He directed the hospital administration to provide the best medical facilities to all the injured Emergency in all hospitals of Peshawar were imposed and critical patients were airlifted from Bajaur to Peshawar.
