MUMBAI: England wicketkeeper batter Jos Buttler has lit the Indian Premier League (IPL) on fire after his mesmerizing start to the tournament, which he credited heavily to Pakistan coach Mushtaq Ahmed.
Buttler is in the form of his life. He has already registered three centuries this season with two of them coming back to back against the Kolkata Knight Riders and the northern rivals Delhi Capitals respectively.
Opening the innings for Rajasthan Royals, Buttler is currently the leading scorer in the IPL with 491 runs, averaging 81.83.
While doing a rapid-fire, the 31-year-old batter revealed that Mushtaq Ahmed helped him identify his weak areas and gave the advice to overturn that.
“Mushtaq Ahmed always told me to hit on the off-side first and then come around to the leg-side. If you are looking only on the leg-side, you will never hit the ball on the off-side,” Buttler claimed.
The 2008 champions currently occupy the third position in the IPL 2022 points table with five wins from seven matches with 10 points to their tally at a net run rate of +0.432. At the same time, Jos Buttler is also comfortably placed on top of the Orange Cap list.
The explosive opener would now be hoping to successfully breach the three-figure mark for a third straight time when RR face the Royal Challengers Bangalore in their next encounter at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on April 26.
